The Solidarity Fund, an innovative crowdfunding campaign, gives tech workers who need money to fund labor organizing efforts the opportunity to receive microdonations to support a specific cause. On May 15, 2018, the Solidarity Fund launched a campaign to support the workers of New York City’s tech industry by giving each donor a choice to make a $2,500 donation to an individual worker or a collective group of workers. As of August 1, 2019, the Solidarity Fund has raised $112,000 and has donated to 44 different projects. Each donation is made in $2,500 increments to support labor organizing efforts. Donors may choose to donate to a single person or a group of people and designate the donation to a single project or several projects.

What is the goal of the Solidarity Fund?

Solidarity Fund is a community-driven fund to support people victimized by the current political climate in the U.S. It aims to help people who have lost their jobs, homes, or livelihood due to the recent wave of anti-immigration actions that have swept across the country. The Fund was co-founded by Arielle Berger, a writer with a similar idea, who is looking for others to join her. After some discussion and fundraising, they created the Fund and started accepting donations through the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

In conclusion, The Solidarity Fund is an excellent example of an online crowdfunding campaign by a large, multinational tech company coworker who raised tens of thousands of dollars. It’s impressive, especially considering that crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and GoFundMe have been sued multiple times for deceptive practices in the past year. The Solidarity Fund, however, has managed to stay out of the news and avoid having to answer to the courts.
